The Association supported a media campaign spearheaded by the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers of NJ Local Nos. 4 & 5. MLV Strategies is a political affairs media strategy and communications firm who created the campaign in efforts to elevate awareness of Misclassification and the Underground Construction Economy in New Jersey.
The first step of the campaign was to poll NJ voters. The key findings of the poll that took place from June 5th – 13th, 2019 stated that “An overwhelming majority of New Jersey voters support new regulations and enforcement measures to protect construction workers from mistreatment at the hands of developers. By more than a three-to-one margin (75% to 23%), voters believe misclassifying workers or paying them off the books is an unfair practice that harms both workers and taxpayers and they support new regulations and more enforcement.”
*Bully Pulpit Interactive conducted a representative poll of 600 New Jersey likely 2021 voters from June 5-13, 2019. The interviews were split between 200 telephone (landline plus cell phone) and 400 online interviews. The margin of error is +/- 4 percentage points on a random sample of 600. Benenson Strategy Group oversaw fieldwork.
